General experience needed:

Windows NT administration (several domains) Unix/Linux administration (university experience is good enough, of course a professional experience is better) WAN architecture with Cisco routers (IOS language skill & proven experience in this area is cool!)

The Administrator will be in charge of the global network architecture and the interconnection with several sites, including Phoenix, Paris, Casablanca & San Francisco.

The Administrator will be directly in charge of the intranet/Internet networks and server administration of the Paris. The Administrator will be in charge of the security of the various Obvious sites.

The candidate will be the main Obvious Technology's administrator, the previous French administrator (A French Telecom Engineer) is still occupying this position, he is a freelance administrator only available 3 days a week, which is not sufficient for Obvious Technology's needs.

More details on the different Sites actually connected together and needed to be administrated directly or in collaboration with local administrators:

-Paris office (the consultant will have direct responsibility in administrating this site): Around 15 clients workstations on Windows 98/NT,
Around 5 Windows NT 4 servers, 3 specialized lines, around 3 Cisco machines and of course the Firewalls.

-Out-soured Paris Portal (the consultant will have direct responsibility in administrating this site):
Several Windows NT 4 servers; Linux servers, several specialized lines, several network Cisco machines, Firewall,

-Other tools to administrate Exchange server, CVS, Web server for Intranet and internet, 4 specific Server on Windows NT.

-Paris peripheral Office (Rambouillet) Tele-working location (the consultant will indirectly administrate this site in collaboration whit it's local administrator, chief developer of obvious software):
1 Windows NT Server, 1 specialized line.

-The San Francisco Office to be administrated in collaboration with the local administrator (to be hired, probably under the consultant's supervision)

Casablanca Office (to be administrated in collaboration with the local administrator, Chief architect of obvious software ):
1Windows NT Server, 1 ISDN connection with a Cisco Router.

Phoenix Office: (to be administrated in collaboration with the local administrator, responsible for research and MPEG specialists):

-The consultant will be supervising some local (home) developer's Sites in France with various connections: Cable, ISDN, and Modem. The administrator shall be empowered to impose security practices

A basic description of all Obvious technology networks goes as follows:

Today:

Paris office:
-Development workstations operating on a 100 Mb network line, connected to a cerbere machine and to a software database.
-Development workstations operating on a 100 MB network line, connected to a database, to a cerbere and to peripheral printers, videoconference and video equipment.
-The main backbone is a gigabyte network connected to the two 100-MB lines mentioned above and to an administration workstation and to a supervision workstation.
The Paris cerbere is also connected to an ftp, exchange-mail, document and data server as well as to a server acting as a web, icq Corp, video and obvious proprietary tool server.
-Obvious technology's main backbone is also connected to a Cisco 5200 router connected itself to several isdn connected Tele-workstations in the Paris region, to a router in Casablanca and to a router in Rambouillet and least but not last to an out-soured portal including an oracle database a video server and a beta test machine.
-This portal server is in turn connected on a gigabyte network via a firewall to an ATM network including direct lines to the linx London network, the bnix Brussels network, the Geneva CERN, the ATT unisource network, the satellite named Orion, and the Washington 622 MB network.
-The san Francisco Office is also connected to our main backbone via a cerebere machine connected via the French telco company CEGETEL to a virtual private network linking together via satellite the Arizona research center and the san Francisco business development and head quarter office.

In the very near future:

A second office will open in Paris; this will be an excellent opportunity to start configuring workstations from a master template workstation .
This new office will probably have around 10 Workstations to start off with.

Platform and Tools needed to be administrated:

Windows NT 4 Servers with IIS service, Java VM, MIS, Oracle, MS SQL, RealServer G2, Netshow, Exchange/Outlook service, Firewall service, Intranet service, Internet service, Specific services Windows 98 and Windows NT workstation clients with several needs including our proprietary video proxy tools Linux server with CVS, Apache, PHP, MySQL Wan interconnection with Cisco routers

The administrator should be fluent in English with some knowledge of French, he will be helped in his administrative and maintenance tasks 3 days a week by an internship computer science student.
He will of course receive a salary increase on his latest position.




We're looking for a Linux programmer to develop some code based on mathematical calculations written by Rick Danielson. In short, the program moves a 32 bit chip to the performance of a 64 bit chip and is inherently scalable. The programmer(s) would write the code on a contingency basis and would receive royalties, bound by contract.
